As of 1/31/24, we are the only lodge among Territory 47’s twenty-three lodges to attain a perfect score of 72 toward a 5-
Star Lodge award from the California-Nevada Moose Association! All of you should be equally proud of this
accomplishment as I am. I will make sure that we end the year with a perfect score, as we did last year. Thank you for all
that you do to make my job of meeting all of the requirements for the 5-Star Lodge award easier.
Building and Property Improvements
By direction of your board of officers, I have established a restricted fund for building and property improvements. Three
projects that we need to complete are replacement and relocation of our grease trap, replacement of our social quarters
floor, and replacement of the patio tarp covering damaged by recent storms by something more resistant to storms.
We have a bid of $18,900 to replace and relocate the grease trap. The board has voted to proceed with it. This is our
highest priority because the grease flows in the wrong direction. Therefore, if something bad were to happen with the
grease trap such as an overflow and spill, we would be in very expensive and deep regulatory trouble with the
Environmental Protection Agency.
Costs for the social quarters floor and the tarp replacement are yet to be determined. We will appreciate volunteers to
provide labor for installation of a new social quarters floor, which would greatly mitigate the cost.
Brad Letham will spearhead the project to replace the patio tarp. On behalf of the lodge, I give my sincere thanks to Brad
for his ongoing and outstanding repair and maintenance work around the lodge.
We are now accepting donations to the building and property improvements fund. Thank you for your generosity.
Fraternally and Moose Proud,
Dennis London

Moose Charities Update
12/28/23 – 2/25/34
During this bimonthly newsletter reporting period, in-house fund raising efforts collected a total of $3,022.64 for Moose Charities and local charitable giving.
Of this total, $558.58 came from Bank on Our Kids, $378.06 came from 9 o’clock ceremonies, $2,081 came from bingo, and $5.00 was an individual donation. Outstanding! Our first over $3,000 amount for a bimonthly reporting period in a very long time.
This amount includes $100 for each of the Mooseheart utility vehicle, Safe Surfin’ Foundation, and Youth Awareness. Our donation spaghetti dinner benefiting Pahrump Senior Center on January 21 raised $1,603.33.
Our annual Golden Ball ceremony on February 24 raised $100 for the care of our children at Mooseheart. God bless Mooseheart.
We have received a marketing grant from Moose International for the purchase of three cases of Tommy Moose dolls to match our purchase of three cases – six cases total. President Novoa and I will take two cases to the California-Nevada Moose Association midyear conference in March for donation to Costa Mesa, CA first responders and Orange County Children’s Hospital.
I sincerely thank you for your caring for our children at Mooseheart, our seniors at Moosehaven, and our Pahrump community.
